New TOOL CD

TOOL has come out with some thought provoking music and we had to wait years and years for it. Was it worth it? As a huge TOOL fan myself, I would say yes - to a certain extent. This new sound level they have offered us is more reliant on their music rather than their lyrics- which is a huge part of the TOOL revolution.

It seems TOOL has chosen to embrace the tropical and rhythmic sounds of a Peruvian nature. Not that theres anything wrong with that! Its very thought provoking......

The key to the TOOL success in the past was their ability to mix their songs properly and keep the wording off-beat to the steps of the music. Stretching the words and twisting a rhythm. The mixing was by far the biggest impact in TOOL success. The passion helped too. It's clear this album is more along the lines of a rush job at the end of a final countdown with some Maynard experiments thrown in. Perfect Circle is hard to miss.

This music is much more flat than previous TOOL, the layers are missing.

Music is very much like a sexual experience in that it has highs and lows, both are addictive. Good music raises you, holds you for a few seconds and lets you down to relax.....then does it all over again. It gets you excited about being alive. This new TOOL album - I hardly see myself listening to it in the car. Which is a huge downer!!

If I had to guess I would say the band has been living in the success they reached and grew apart from the music. Their passion and closeness to music is clearly evident in their previous and most successful albums.

One thing in their defense is that TOOL always takes excellent care of us by providing kick-ass album covers for us to look at and play with, without charging more than other bands. Gotta love that!!!

We know full well that TOOL has the ability to make outstanding music, now they must speak to our souls like they always have..............

My final advice is that if TOOL wants to save it they better hurry up and come out with a new album with some traditional skull-busting rock (that does'nt force us to listen to slow musical or vocal beginnings on every song)
