(CBS/AP) Voters in a Dallas suburb became the first in the nation Saturday to prohibit landlords from renting to most illegal immigrants.

The ban was approved by a vote of 67 percent (4,058) to 32 percent (1,941).

The balloting marked the first public vote on a local government measure to crack down on illegal immigration.

"It says especially to Congress that we're tired of the out-of-control illegal immigration problem, that if Congress doesn't do something about it, cities will," said Tim O'Hare, a City Council member who was the ordinance's lead proponent.

The ordinance requires apartment managers to verify that renters are U.S. citizens or legal immigrants before leasing to them, with some exceptions.

Property managers or owners who break the rule face a misdemeanor charge punishable by a fine of up to $500.

Council members approved the ordinance in November, then revised it in January to include exemptions for minors, seniors and some families with a mix of legal residents and illegal immigrants.

Turnout was heavy.

Ofelia Rodriguez, a lifelong resident of Framers Branch and a U.S. citizen, has never voted in an election until now. Hers was a vote against 2903.

"Hey, my one vote might just make a difference this time," Rodriguez told CBS Station KTVT correspondent Stephanie Lucero at one polling place. "So hopefully I'm making a difference today to try and get my city back."

Proponents of the ordinance believed that it would address some of the city's problems.

"We received lots of complaints about overcrowding and lots of cars in front of houses that only have 900 square feet and multiple families in apartments," Ben Robinson told KTVT. "And so I hope this will help. It's something that our citizens have wanted."

Farmers Branch has become the site of protests and angry confrontations, and opponents of the regulation gathered enough signatures to force the city to put the measure on the municipal election ballot.

The city was already facing four lawsuits brought by civil rights groups, residents, property owners and businesses who contend the ordinance discriminates and that it places landlords in the precarious position of acting as federal immigration officers. Their attorneys say the ordinance attempts to regulate immigration, a duty that is exclusively the federal government's. One lawsuit also alleges the council violated the state open meetings act when deciding on the ordinance.

O'Hare contends the city's economy and quality of life will improve if illegal immigrants are kept out.

Around the country, more than 90 local governments have proposed, passed or rejected laws prohibiting landlords from leasing to illegal immigrants, penalizing businesses that employ them or training police to enforce immigration laws.

Both sides say if Congress had already passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill by now, then this debate wouldn't be taking place right now in Framers Branch.

"This is going to be a black stain on the city of Farmers Branch," one opponent to 2903 told KTVT. "This is going to be in the same column as sitting in the back of the bus."

The law will become effective in 10 days (May 22), but opponents say they will challenge it in federal court and are confident it will not become law.

"I think it's interesting when they call themselves 'Let the voters decide' and they get a petition signed to let the voters decide,
and now that it appears that the voters have decided, that's not good enough," O'Hare told KTVT.

Local proposals aimed at regulating illegal immigration often fail to pass constitutional muster, said Muzaffar Chishti, director of the Migration Policy Institute office at New York University School of Law.

"There is significant frustration, so that's what's driving it," Chishti said. "But the simple fact is they cannot do too much other than impress upon the Congress the need for immigration reform."

Farmers Branch voters' overwhelming embrace of a law to drive out illegal immigrants – which backers celebrated Saturday as "nothing but positive" – may lead to similar measures across North Texas and the Nation, analysts say.

The nation's first vote on an ordinance targeting illegal immigrants by barring them from renting apartments highlighted a resentment of the federal government's failure to secure the nation's borders – and a desire to do something about it at the local level, said City Council member Tim O'Hare, who was the driving force behind the ordinance.

"They are saying loud and clear they want change in Farmers Branch," he said. "People recognize we have a problem, and they are proud we stood up. This is nothing but positive results for Farmers Branch."

Mr. O'Hare's message that illegal immigrants are having a negative impact on neighborhoods, crime, property values and schools may soon be heard in other cities.

"I'd be shocked if I didn't see other cities follow suit," he said. "I've been contacted by representatives from other cities. Any city that wants to protect their town, give me a call, and let us work together."

Opponents of the ordinance said they will try to stop the ordinance in the courts, and despite their defeat, they say they will have an impact on the city in the future.

"Regardless of the results, this is only the beginning," said Ana Reyes. "The community outreach we're doing is going to empower the Hispanic community [to become citizens]. I want them to feel a sense of involvement in the city."

Matthew Wilson, a political science professor at Southern Methodist University, said the implications of the Farmers Branch election may be felt more in cities elsewhere.

"Farmers Branch is a closed-in suburb of a major American city," Mr. Wilson said. "This is not some sort of remote, rural outpost. Farmers Branch is a pretty mainstream place, and if there is this level of anger about the immigration situation there, then what that suggests is there's probably a lot more of this kind of anger around the country."

And politicians may look to capitalize on the issue by taking similar tough local stances on illegal immigrants, he said.

Irving City Council candidate Tom Spink, who ran on an anti-illegal-immigrant platform, easily won election Saturday over longtime incumbent James Dickens.

And look for more anti-illegal-immigrant measures in Farmers Branch with the election Saturday of two new pro-ordinance council members, David Koch and Tim Scott. The City Council now has a solid majority committed to more ordinances targeting illegal immigrants. Both Mr. Koch and Mr. Scott have said they favor expanding the ban on renting apartments to illegal immigrants to all rental properties in the city and cracking down on businesses that hire illegal immigrants.

But with two lawsuits pending against the city, it could be years before the ordinance takes effect. Attorneys in those lawsuits are expected to immediately file requests from the courts for injunctions to stop the city from implementing the law on May 22, as planned.

Though other cities over the last year or so have adopted similar apartment ordinances, Farmers Branch is the first in Texas to do so, and the first nationwide to put the issue to a city vote.

The ordinance is modeled largely after one adopted by Hazleton, Pa., the first city to adopt a rental ban on illegal immigrants. That city also was sued. The case went to trial in the spring, but the judge has not issued a decision yet.

"You have cities all across the country responding to constituent demands," said Kris Kobach, a law professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He also is a constitutional law and immigration expert who defended Hazleton in court and helped Farmers Branch craft the ordinance that went to voters.

"These ordinances have proven very popular among city councils," Mr. Kobach said. "This shows the city councils are accurately responding to public opinion. ... A referendum is essentially a perfect public opinion survey because you're questioning the entire electorate."

One political analyst said that the impact might not be as great as it would have been several months ago.

Illegal immigration "is still a very live issue, but my sense is it doesn't have the forward momentum it had in the latter half of 2006, because it was then a signature issue of the Republican Party," Cal Jillson, also a political science professor at SMU, said last week.

A spokesman for Let the Voters Decide, a group that opposed the ordinance, also said the issue may not spread to other cities.

"We're disappointed in the result, but I think the campaign was successful in that it was able to elevate the level of debate about this ordinance and prove the many ways this ordinance is costly and ill-advised," said the spokesman, Travis Carter. "Because of our campaign, there isn't a community or city in North Texas that would think to support an ordinance like this."

The fiery debate drew charges of racism and accusations of voter intimidation and dissemination of wrong or misleading information on both sides both since last fall. Mayor Bob Phelps' house was vandalized twice, including once last week immediately after he announced his opposition to the ordinance.

It also thrust Mr. O'Hare, a native of the city, and Farmers Branch into the national spotlight. Anticipating the large turnout, Dallas County set up seven voting locations in the city for Saturday. Usually, the city of 28,500 has only one polling place. In the end, about 43 percent of 14,060 registered voters turned out and approved the referendum by a more than 2-to-1 margin.

Ordinance 2903 would require apartment management to obtain proof of citizenship or legal immigration status before entering into or renewing leases or rental agreements.

The only exception to the ban would be that mixed-status families could stay if they were already living in the apartment, the spouse or head of household is a citizen or here legally, and the household includes the head of household and spouse and their minor children or parents.

With the U.S. government's permission, Bustamante began a fact-finding tour Monday of migrant rights along the border with Mexico. He began in San Diego.

Three of Fort Dix terrorists entered through Mexican border

A federal law enforcement source confirmed to FOX News that the three â€" Dritan "Anthony" or "Tony" Duka, 28; Shain Duka, 26; and Eljvir "Elvis" Duka, 23 â€" also accumulated 19 traffic citations, but because they operated in "sanctuary cites," where law enforcement does not routinely report illegal immigrants to homeland security, none of the tickets raised red flags.

The brothers entered the United States near Brownsville, Texas, in 1984, the source said, which would put their ages at 1 to 6 when they crossed the border.

The source said there is no record of them entering by way of a regular border crossing, so they are investigating whether they were smuggled into the country.

Washington, May 11 - U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) today voiced concern over a recently-passed Democratic Homeland Security plan in light of the arrests of a dozen illegal immigrants at Camp Joseph T. Robinson Army National Guard Base in Little Rock.

Nine males, two females and one juvenile male were arrested. They were employed by two different companies performing contract work at the base.

According to a press release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the arrests stemmed from ICE's mission to "target illegal workers with access to critical infrastructure worksites" including U.S. military installations.

The Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) program was gutted earlier this week from a Democrat-backed Homeland Security plan which passed the House. CIP investigations are generally predicated upon the threat to national security posed by unauthorized workers employed in critical infrastructure related facilities.

"This is a real-world example of why this plan passed by House Democrats was a bad idea," Boozman said. "I thank ICE and Camp Robinson for their due diligence in ensuring the security at our state's National Guard headquarters, and one of the nation's largest state-operated training sites."

"Protecting places like Camp Robinson is extremely important, and the stripping of a key Homeland Security tool – along with others in the authorization bill – weakens America's security."

The Homeland Security bill also removed the 287(g) program, a voluntary one where local law enforcement agencies receive immigration enforcement training, a key recommendation of the 9/11 Commission.

"Yesterday, illegal aliens from Mexico were the ones arrested, thanks to a program left on the cutting room floor this time around," Boozman said. "In the future, we won't be able to know if it was an illegal alien or an al-Qaeda operative because we wouldn't be able to check, thanks to the new Homeland Security plan put together by the Democrat leadership."

The LONG TERM goal of jihad is world domination – a global Islamic state under Islamic law.

Jihad is not, as some Western apologists claim, simply a striving for individual perfection. Rather, jihad is an expansionist totalitarian ideology that seeks to establish a global Islamic state ruled by Islamic law, or sharia. Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's chief henchman said in the summer of 2006: "Jihad seeks the liberation of Palestine, the entire country of Palestine and to liberate every land that used to be a territory of Islam, from Spain to Iraq."

The jihad's IMMEDIATE Objective is "Death to America."

"America," declared Al-Qaeda spokesman Suleiman Abu Gheith, "is the head of heresy in our modern world, and [as a result] . . . we have the right to kill 4 million Americans — 2 million of them children — and to exile twice as many and wound and cripple hundreds of thousands. Furthermore, it is our right to fight them with chemical and biological weapons." The Saudi Sheikh Nasser ibn Hamed gives an even higher figure for appropriate American deaths: "If a bomb was dropped on them [i.e. the Americans] that would annihilate 10 million and burn their lands to the same extent that they burned the Muslim lands – this is permissible…."

Jihad demands the killing of "infidels" or their subjugation under Islamic law.

Since the time of the Prophet Muhammad jihad has offered three choices to the non-Muslim: conversion to Islam, submission under Islamic rule, or death. One manual of Islamic law states that if "the infidels" do not convert, "it is then incumbent on the Muslims to call upon God for assistance, and to make war upon them."

The jihad kills women.

Jihadis believe, among other things, that women are inferior to men, and must be ruled by them; that a son's inheritance should be twice the size of that of a daughter; that a husband should beat a disobedient wife; that adulterous or lewd women can be eliminated in "honor killings.".

Jihad calls for the extermination of the Jews.

In a Friday sermon in Gaza that was broadcast live on official Palestinian Authority television, Sheikh Ahmad Abu Halabiya summed up jihadis' attitudes toward the Jews: "Have no mercy on [them], no matter where they are, in any country. Fight them, wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them. Wherever you are, kill those Jews and those Americans who are like them…"

Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hizballah, takes the anti Semitism of jihad a step further, calling Jews "grandsons of apes and pigs" and cautioning that they are "a cancer which is liable to spread again at any moment."

JIHAD KILLS GAYS

Just before the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Afghanistan's Taliban regime punished two men convicted of homosexuality. The Taliban's Islamic jurists had no doubt that death was the proper punishment. The only question was how to carry out the execution. One group of scholars believed that the homosexuals should be taken to the top of the highest building in the city, and hurled to their deaths. The other recommended that a pit be dug near a wall somewhere, the two men put in it, and the wall toppled so that they were buried alive.

The jihad is not about American policy towards Israel or about israel's policy towards the palestinians.

Many, particularly on the American Left, believe that if the U.S. decreases its support for Israel, and if Israel surrenders further territory, jihad violence will cease. This is as naïve as it is untrue. The Muslim Brotherhood, for instance, the first modern Islamic terrorist organization and the direct ancestor of Hamas and Al-Qaeda, was founded in 1928 – twenty years before the founding of the State of Israel

Mahmoud Zahar, the Hamas Foreign Minister, says: "Even if the U.S. gave us all its money in return for recognizing Israel and giving up one inch of Palestine, we would never do so even if this costs us our lives."

The jihad is not the result of Islamists' current grievances about Afghanistan, Iraq or other hotspots in the Middle East.

The international media focus on conflict in Israel, Iraq and Afghanistan, but the jihad continues in a lower key and largely out of sight on a daily basis in places such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, Chechnya, the Balkans, and Nigeria, to say nothing of the "soft jihad" being waged in Europe.

There is nowhere in the world where one can escape the jihad. Wherever Muslims are found, which is in almost every country on the planet, there are adherents of the ideology of jihad.

The jihad subverts democratic institutions.

Jihadis in Europe have been forthright about their intentions. In England, for instance, Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, has said that the transformation of Britain into an Islamic state could come about by means of an "invasion [from] without." But if this doesn't happen, Bakri says that jihadis will convert the West to Islam "through ideological invasion …"



On September 11th 2001 America suffered the worst and bloodiest attack in its history. Nearly 3,000 innocent civilians were brutally murdered in the unprovoked assault. They were murdered because they lived, worked and prospered in America, the world's beacon of liberty and the guardian its freedoms.

Their murderers were a cadre of Islamic terrorists who were part of a vast global network of religious fanatics who have declared Holy War on the United States and the West and, as part of their Jihad, pronounced a death sentence on every man, woman and child living in our borders. With the potential for mass destruction made possible with modern technology, this Jihad confronts us with a threat our civilization has never before known.

This threat did not begin with 9/11. The 1990's were marked by a series of Islamic terror attacks against the United States. The response of our elected officials was mainly passive in the face of these attacks. Missiles were launched into Afghanistan and Iraq by the Clinton Administration but to little effect and not as part of a sustained response. Neither the American public nor our military forces on the ground were mobilized or engaged. Our government remained inert as the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania and the USS Cole were bombed. The threat grew; terrorists were trained, deployed and then organized into cells that stretched across Europe and the United States. The result was a catastrophic attack on the very same building, the World Trade Center, that had been attacked by the jihadis eight years earlier in 1993.

Radical Islam
While professing unwavering faith in a transcendent deity, radical Islam also presents itself as a militant, politically activist ideology whose ultimate goal is to create a worldwide community, or caliphate, of Muslim believers. Determined to achieve this new world order by any means necessary, including violence and mass murder, radical Islam is characterized by its contempt for the beliefs, practices, and symbols of other religious traditions. This intolerant, condemning creed serves as the ideological justification that contemporary Islamic terrorists cite for their actions.

Radical Islam's kinship with terrorism, and its willingness to use violence as a means to its ultimate ends, is clearly spelled out in a training manual produced by the radical Islamist terror group al Qaeda, whose operatives carried out the 9/11 attacks. Noting that among al Qaeda's "long-term goals" is "the establishment of an Islamic state," this publication candidly says that an "Islamic government would never be established except by the bomb and rifle. Islam does not coincide or make a truce with unbelief, but rather confronts it. The confrontation that Islam calls for with these godless and apostate regimes, does not know Socratic debates, Platonic ideals nor Aristotelian diplomacy. But it knows the dialogue of bullets, the ideals of assassination, bombing, and destruction, and the diplomacy of the cannon and machine-gun. The young came to prepare themselves for Jihad [holy war], commanded by the majestic Allah's order in the holy Koran."

Jihad (sacred war) against non-believers is a concept central to Islam. For radical Islam in particular, jihad is a historically violent phenomenon that has visited misery and death on non-Muslims for many centuries. As Middle East Forum director Daniel Pipes explains, "The way the jihadists understand the term is in keeping with its usage through fourteen centuries of Islamic history. . . . The goal is boldly offensive, and its ultimate intent is nothing less than to achieve Muslim dominion over the entire world. . . . Jihad in the sense of territorial expansion has always been a central aspect of Muslim life. . . . Today, jihad is the world's foremost source of terrorism, inspiring a worldwide campaign of violence by self-proclaimed jihadist groups."
Scholar of Middle East affairs Martin Kramer elaborates further on the goals of radical Islamists: "The idea is simple: Islam must have power in this world. It is the true religion—the religion of God—and its truth is manifest in its power. When Muslims believed, they were powerful. Their power has been lost in modern times because Islam has been abandoned by many Muslims, who have reverted to the condition that preceded God's revelation to the Prophet Muhammad. But if Muslims now return to the original Islam, they can preserve and even restore their power. That return, to be effective, must be comprehensive; Islam provides the one and only solution to all questions in this world, from public policy to private conduct. It is not merely a religion, in the Western sense of a system of belief in God. It possesses an immutable law, revealed by God, that deals with every aspect of life, and it is an ideology, a complete system of belief about the organization of the state and the world. This law and ideology can only be implemented through the establishment of a truly Islamic state, under the sovereignty of God. The empowerment of Islam, which is God's plan for mankind, is a sacred end."

When trying to explain the Islamists' global campaign of conquest and mass murder, both liberals and conservatives assume that the Islamist holy war against the West revolves solely around Westerners themselves, around the moral drama of their goodness or their wickedness, rather than having something to do with Islam itself. For example, people on the anti-war left believe that al Qaeda attacked the U.S. because it is imperialist, racist, or insufficiently responsive to the needs of the Third-World poor. By contrast, the pro-war right (including President Bush) maintains that the Islamists hate Americans for their freedoms, opportunities, and overall success as a society. In other words, the left believes that the Islamists hate Americans for their sins, and the right believes that the Islamists hate Americans for their virtues.

A very different perspective on the Islamist mindset is offered by Mary Habeck, a military historian at Yale University. Habeck holds that radical Muslims base their war against non-Moslems on the Islamic sacred writings, particularly the Sira, which, unlike the Koran, tells the story of the Prophet Muhammed's life in chronological sequence. Using Muhammed as their model, the jihadists think and act within paradigms provided by the stages of Muhammed's political and military career. According to Habeck, this internally driven logic of Islam, and not any particular provocation, real or imagined, by some outside power, is the key to understanding why the jihadists do what they do. While specific actions by the West might provoke the jihadists to greater attacks, their fundamental strategic and military decisions are not determined by anything done by the United States, Europe, or any other perceived enemy of Islam, but rather by tenets within Islam itself that call for the killing of the foes of Allah.

The term "Islamofascism," which is often used to describe the ideology of today's radical Islamists, was introduced by the French writer Maxime Rodinson to describe the Iranian Revolution of 1978-79. She wrote:

"A quick review of ideology is in order. ... No other type of ideology, (democracy, communism, or despotism) matches what our enemy stands for as does the ideology of fascism. Islamofascism is the Islamic jihadist ideology grafted onto the totalitarian dictatorial system of fascism where the goals of Islam are more important than that of the individual. It seeks to re-create a mythical past, glorification of war, violence, intimidation, belligerency, superiority over non-believers, anti-Semitism and anti-liberalism are all components of this ideology. ... The pairing of the two words "Islamic" and "fascism" conveys a precise message: the old fascism is back, but driven by a radical fundamentalist creed of Islam. Who are the Islamofascists? They are the practitioners of militant Islam. Militant Islam contains elements of terrorism, religious fundamentalism, and the exploitation of social and economic injustice. It has ideological fervor, it has global reach, it is ambitious and it has staying power. They seek to re-create the Caliphate that once existed from southern France, to the gates of Vienna, to the plains of India, the steppes of Russia and western China -- and then once regaining that, beyond. Islamofascism is now a global threat because certain Arab and Muslim governments have chosen to export it."

Radical Islamists tend to gravitate toward any of three major methods of achieving their ultimate objective. The first method is to fight the Near Enemy prior to fighting the Far Enemy. The Near Enemy is anyone inside Islamic lands, whether it is an occupier or someone who has taken away territory that used to be Islamic. The second method is to fight the Greater Unbelief—the major enemy, which today is the United States—before the Lesser Unbelief. And the third method is to fight the Apostates (false Muslims) first, and then the other Unbelievers. It's the old "Rule the World" agenda compiled by any villain. The benefits of ruling the world is enjoying the money, the luxury, the power and any future benefits that might arise. THESE are the reasons behind the communist agenda in the United States and across the globe! One primary way that communism rises to power is through censorship of the masses. This is something that is HIGHLY active in this Country and has been slowly taking place for generations. In recent days I have been attacked for being white, a citizen of the United States of America and for having opinions. I have been attacked by people who would like to stop me from saying what I say - stop what I believe in and stop the truth! Needless to say, I threw that shit right back up in their faces. And I wasn't shy about it. This all has resulted in many emails from my friends, some white, some mexican, some black, some Asian. Some good, some bad replies. And I see that I have lost a few friends over the subject and that's fine. I'm here defending MY life and yours and if you don't have the strength to stand up for yourself, you can go ahead and thank people like me and the millions of others before who have done what I AM DOING now to protect what you NOW have and enjoy!!! Not everyone has the dedication to be political and sometimes it gets to even ME! It's not easy to carry the burden of "being concerned" about the outcome of this Country!! Chief Bratton - decked out in full uniform - gave a report. Then Bratton introduced the replacement for Deputy Chief Cayler "Lee" Carter, the highest ranking officer at the MacArthur Park protest.

Bratton announced the replacement: Sergio Diaz - a native of Cuba - a naturalized American citizen. Bratton asked that the newly appointed Deputy Chief say a few words.

Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz gave a short acceptance speech first in English, then in Spanish.

After Chief Bratton was done speaking - President Mack opened the floor to the general public. You had to fill out a card to speak and were allowed two minutes.

The public railed and raged against Bratton and LAPD for almost 3 hours.

A row of Minutemen sat together - and we were heckled routinely. Men we didn't know would walk by where we were seated and hiss, "Racists."

Or "The LAPD are the Minutemen in Blue."

Individuals in the audience, as speakers addressed the Commission, were allowed to stand up and shake their fists and yell things like, "FIRE BRATTON." This was a common scene at the meeting. Fist shaking. Yelling. Lots of noise.

One of the coalition spokesperson stated that the LAPD should no longer ever be allowed to wear riot gear.

The Hermadad Mexicana representative stated that next May 1st, there will be a bigger demonstration and that the LAPD will not be allowed to attend - they will supply their OWN security.

The crowd cheered this notion.

A continual theme among the open border activists speakers was that the LAPD attacked: the Elderly and children. This point was made over and over and over. This was the theme of the meeting along with yelling out "BRATTON GO HOME!" "Go BACK TO NEW YORK!"

The open border crowd - who Bratton has pandered to fervently - REALLY, REALLY despises him. And they expressed - I will call it rabid hatred - nonstop for 3 hours toward Bratton.

I got the impression the Police Commission feared them. Were afraid to stop their raging. They all looked nervous.

Almost every open border speaker categorically denied that anyone had assaulted the LAPD at any time. They repeated over and over that the LAPD attacked them because of their of their skin color. Completely unprovoked.

They painted the May 1st demonstration as completely peaceful. Children. Elderly. And that suddenly - for no reason at all - the LAPD attacked the peaceful children and the peaceful elderly. I don't recall anyone stating that the LAPD had projectiles thrown at them - most denied this happened at all.

A man lifted up his shirt and showed a wound on his stomach he said was from the rubber bullets. A leader of a Christian Peace Group - talked about how police made her put her arms up and bullied her out of the park. Another lady said she was there with her children and her mother and that police put a club to her. She showed her wound but I couldn't see it. Two members of the Spanish press spoke about being roughed up by police.

A cameraman for the NBC affiliate in Houston was captured on home video sporting a Mexican flag on his camera while covering a rally in the Texas city that supported illegal immigrants, drawing angry shouts from counter-protesters.

In the first of two clips posted on YouTube.com, a counter-protester with a bull horn can be heard condemning the cameraman's flag.

"Why does Channel 2 News have a Mexican flag on their camera?" the man asked.

Houston's NBC station is KPRC.

KPRC News Director Skip Valet told WND the cameraman's flying of the Mexican flag broke station rules.

"It violates our policy, because we're always objective observers of these situations," Valet told WND. "We don't take sides in news stories; we cover them. That policy was clearly violated."

The cameraman has been disciplined, Valet said, but he could not disclose details, because it's a personnel matter.

Valet said the employee has been with the station for about five years. He went to cover the event by himself, the news director said, with the exception of an intern.

The second YouTube clip shows a woman, after considerable protest of the cameraman, mounting an American flag alongside the Mexican banner on the camera. The cameraman helps the woman secure the U.S. flag in place.

A female voice from among the counter-demonstrators then is heard shouting angrily into a bullhorn.

"We are going to let Americans across the country know what you have done today. You are a disgrace, you need to be shut down. … "

The confrontation took place Saturday as hundreds of people marched to Houston's Mason Park for a rally in support of illegal immigrants. The Houston Chronicle reported the marchers blew whistles, banged on drums and chanted through loudspeakers as they carried U.S. and Mexican flags. Banners included one that said: "Amor sin la frontera: Love has no borders."

The paper said the counter-demonstrators were representatives of the group U.S. Border Watch, who stood across the street and waved American flags, chanting back at the marchers.

Curtis Collier, president of U.S. Border Watch, told the Chronicle his group is working every day to "save the sovereignty of this nation."

He believes more Americans are aware now of the issue of illegal immigration.

"I do think the American people are now aware of the problems – illegal immigration is putting a strain our on schools, our social services system and our justice system," Collier said.

	Eric	Sharpton (& Jackson for that matter) are nothing but race baiters. They sit around and wait for something to be said and then they are all over the news. Jackson will find companies that have never had any problems with racial discrimination and stir up trouble. Actually, a lot of them do and they don't appreciate being used as tools in the big "popularity" agenda. I think the black community is just as victimized by these things as anyone else and they full well know it. Many who COULD benefit from a REAL Al Sharpton lose out because he has no true agenda FOR his people. Racism happens, biases occur, there truly are injustices out there - why isn't Al doing the Good Deed instead of being selfish? Why isn't he helping his people who TRULY need it? Illegal Aliens and Crime Incidence



Introduction
Most Americans equate illegal aliens with a higher incidence of crime. Some academic researchers have attempted to prove that is a misimpression. But, in fact, data show that the American public understands the facts better than the academics.

Adult illegal aliens represented 3.1 percent of the total adult population of the country in 2003.1 By comparison, the illegal alien prison population represented a bit more than 4.54 percent of the overall prison population. Therefore, deportable criminal aliens were more than half again as likely to be incarcerated as their share of the population.

Misleading Academic Studies
The misleading data produced by academics and think tank researchers that show a lower incidence of crime by aliens is based upon a comparison of data that include all foreign born residents with data for the native born population. Because these data compare all foreign born residents to the native born population, they are largely irrelevant to describing the illegal alien crime incidence.2

A lower incidence of crime should be expected from a foreign born population that is largely legal immigrants and long-term nonimmigrants. This population includes persons who are screened for any previous criminal activities before they can get a green card, persons who are again screened for criminal activity before they can become U.S. citizens, and persons such as foreign students and professional workers who are at the least required to state under oath whether they have any criminal history before they can get a visa. In other words, this is a population carefully screened to assure that they are unlikely to engage in criminal activity. Something would be very wrong with our visa screening process if research did not reveal that the foreign-born were less likely to have committed crimes in the United States than the native-born population.

The same cannot, of course, be said for the illegal alien population. Their presence in the United States is based on their either illegally entering the country or entering under false pretenses. Those who sneak into the country undergo no form of screening for criminality or any other grounds for exclusion. Many in the illegal alien population end up incarcerated as a result of criminal activity at the time of their illegal entry, e.g., drug smuggling or alien smuggling. Other illegal aliens owe alien smugglers for assisting their illegal entry and end up being co-opted into criminal activity, such as drug distribution or prostitution, to pay off the debt.

The apparent linkage between illegal alien status and a higher incidence of crime was suggested in the data presented in a recent study of the costs of illegal immigration in Arizona.3 That study noted that Arizona in 2000 had the highest per capita rate of illegal aliens in the country and also ranked at the top of a number of crime indexes. It had the nation's highest per capita rate of property crimes, the highest rate of vehicle theft, and the 2nd highest rate in the country of larceny theft. For burglaries, it ranked 5th, for murders 9th, and for robberies and aggravated assaults it ranked 15th in the country.4

There is nothing about the population in Arizona that would appear to explain this pattern of crime incidence other than the illegal alien population and the proximity to the border with Mexico.

Findings Using SCAAP Data
To obtain a valid view of the incidence of criminal activity by illegal aliens in comparison to the general population, it is necessary to focus just on that segment of the population. The only data that directly identify criminal illegal aliens depend on resources of the federal government. The federal State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) is administered by the federal government to reimburse states and local jurisdictions for costs incurred for the incarceration of criminal aliens. It offers the only reliable data for a valid assessment of the share of prisoners who are deportable aliens.

In that program, states and local jurisdictions may submit names and records of persons known or believed to be illegal aliens to the Department of Justice. Those records are vetted to eliminate persons who are U.S. citizens and any aliens whose incarceration does not make them deportable. Data reported in the SCAAP reimbursements were used in this study to determine the correlation between the size of the criminal alien population and the non-criminal alien population.5

Methodology and Findings
Data collected in the SCAAP reporting system were stated in terms of incarceration days. This eliminates any distortion based on length of sentence. Nationwide there were nearly 600 million incarceration days reported, and the number of those days attributable to identified and suspected illegal aliens were about 24.5 million incarceration days. That suggests that one of every 22 prisoners is a deportable alien (4.54%).

The comparison of this prisoner population with the population at large requires identifying a comparable population. Clearly only adults or near adults are likely to be in this population. To obtain an estimate of adult illegal aliens the INS estimates can be used, even though they probably understate the size of that population. To adjust those estimates to a population comparable to an adult population the only available resource is to reduce the INS estimate by an estimate of illegal alien school-age population. The estimate of illegal alien school-age children, done in an earlier study, provides a rough estimate of the K-12 population by state.6 Because of the age profile of this group, there will be some pre-K illegal aliens and post-grade 12 illegal alien teenagers included in the resulting estimate of a bit more than 7 million illegal aliens in 2000. The comparable adult national population in 2000 is about 228 million persons, and the comparison of these two data sets yields a 3.1 percent share of the adult national population that is comprised of illegal aliens, i.e., one in every 36 adult residents in the country.

Thus the likelihood that an illegal alien will be among those incarcerated (1 in 22) is significantly greater than the share of adult illegal aliens in the country (1 in 36). It is this greater likelihood of being incarcerated that clearly demonstrates that illegal aliens are disproportionately involved in criminal activity.



State Profiles
The data show a clear pattern both nationwide and in the states with the largest estimated illegal alien populations of a higher rate of incarceration of aliens than for the non-alien population. However, the pattern is not uniform. In five of the 13 states with estimated illegal alien populations of over 100,000 in 2000, the reverse was true. Those states were Georgia, Illinois, and North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

Looking at those 13 states as a whole, in 2000 they had about 54 percent of the country's adult population and more than 85 percent of the estimated adult illegal alien population. They also had about 61 percent of the total amount of total criminal incarceration reported in SCAAP and more than 85 percent of the deportable alien incarceration reported in that program.

These calculations demonstrate that the rate of incarceration overall was both higher in these 13 states than in the country as a whole and much higher than in the remaining states and the District of Columbia taken together. Nevertheless, in the rest of the country, the average estimated adult illegal alien share was one percent and the related share of the incarcerated illegal alien share was nearly twice as large (1.7%).

The states that had the highest rates of incarcerated aliens when compared to the share of the estimated illegal alien adult population were, in order, New York, Washington, Florida, Arizona, and California. In each of these states the alien prisoner population represented more than five percent of the total prisoner population, and in California, the share was higher than one in every nine prisoners.

Someone emailed me and said that I he was amazed by how many friends I have. Truth is, I don't have a LOT f friends (by MySpace standards). Not really, considering some people have 15,000 friends and more.

The conversation made me start to think about all of you. I may not have " A LOT" of friends but I have very cool friends! Most of us have spoken at some point and I can honestly say that on all of MySpace, I have some very cool friends!!

I'm happy to have met all of you on here and share in your lives in some small way. You are all cool!

Although I may not comment back much show that I have been there, I do read what you write and visit your pages. I enjoy reading more than writing.

I think he might mean the Indians that live close to the border who have meshed with the mexicans - probably by becoming overwhelmed - but I know these Indians are not fond of whites. That's cool! They don't have to stay in the U.S. The bottom line is that I will not tolerate ANYONE coming to this Country and living the lifestyle that my fellow Americans (regardless of race!!) have developed here in The United States of America and then stand against us and put us down! They won't give you one! You wanna know why? Study: Illegal Immigrants and Crime


New data from the IPC, the Immigration Policy Law Center, tries to make a case that the immigration crime rate and also the incarceration rate are lower than those of the native born population. --- Depending on what this study means by "Immigrant," I don't doubt this at all. This is because I have come to know what people may mean by this term. My personal definition of "immigrant" is a foreigner who goes to live in another country legally. Many use the term including illegal immigrants in the mix. And that's what this particular study seems to do.


The study says that as the illegal immigrant population doubled since 1994, the national violent crime rate has gone down by 34.2% and property crime has gone down by 26.4%. (1)


I don't doubt this point. The problem, however, is that the study is talking about the national U.S. crime rate and not separating the population into its categories such as immigration status, legal and illegal.


The study shows graphs of incarceration rates. According to the statistics, "immigrants" or the "foreign born" have lower crime and incarceration rates than natural born Americans. Again, this is not doubtful at all. --- But the problem with this study is that in its surveys of the crime and incarceration rates, it just talks about foreigners. It doesn't talk about the crime rate in the illegal immigrant population.


Since the study doesn't divide the immigration population into the two necessary categories (legal and illegal immigrants) it isn't useful in the illegal immigration debate, although some would like to use it to make a point, and it does have it's uses.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) did a survey of 55,322 incarcerated illegal immigrants which was released on May 9, 2005 which focused on how many times they were arrested, why they were arrested, and in which states they were arrested. (2)



The study's findings:




All together, they were arrested a total of 459,614 times, an average of eight times per illegal immigrant.


97% of them had more than one arrest.

38% were arrested 2 – 5 times.

32% were arrested 6 – 10 times.

26% were arrested 11 – more times.

89% of these arrests happened after 1990.




What they were arrested for:



These illegal immigrant criminals committed a total of 700,000 crimes.


24% were drug offences.

21% were immigration crimes.

15% were for any sort of theft.

28% traffic violations and fraud.




80% of these arrests were in 3 states:


California: 58%

Texas: 14%

Arizona: 8%

According to another government report, many "aliens" use identity theft to obtain fake documents to be able to enter the U.S. for job opportunities (thus the report indicates it is talking about illegal immigrants). From 1999 – 2001, the INS has intercepted 100,000 falsified documents a year. The report also says that half of them were alien registration and border crossing cards. (3)



In 1986 the hiring of illegal immigrants, knowingly, was criminalized by the Immigration Reform and Control Act. GAO adds that employers are required to verify the immigration status. It also concludes, " The availability of jobs is one of the primary magnets attracting illegal aliens to the United States. Immigration experts believe that as long as opportunities for employment exist, the incentive to enter the United States illegally will persist and efforts at the U.S. borders to prevent illegal entry will be undermined." (4)



Many illegal immigrants use fraudulent papers to find work in the United States. From October 1996 to May 1998, authorities found that 50,000 illegal aliens used 78,000 falsified documents to find work. (5)




The government found that:


60% of those falsified documents were INS documents.

36% were Social Security cards.

4% were for driver's licenses and other documents. (6)



One of the Conspirators of the 1993 World Trade Center terrorist attack entered the United States, using the same sort of documents used by illegal aliens. Thus this issue is also tied to terrorism, (7)




According to study done by the Violent Crimes Institute of Atlanta Georgia says that there are 240,000 sex offenders that are illegal immigrants. 1,500 of these cases were serial rapes, serial murders, sexual murders, and child molestations. (8)


The report says that the majority of these cases were in California, Texas, New Jersey, New York, and Florida. (9)


Of the 1,500 cases:


35% were child molestations.

24% were rapes.

41% were sexual homicides and serial murders.




The victims of child molestation by illegal immigrants were:




47% were Hispanics

36% were Caucasian

8% were Asiatic

6% were African-American

3% were other than.

30% of the victims were illegal immigrants as well. (10)




The study says that the illegal immigrant predators had an average of 4 victims. 63% of them were deported before. And although a car was used in 78% of these cases, they were owned by the them in only in 54% of these cases. (11)



It should also be noted that the study estimates that 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sexual offenders cross the border every day. It estimates that these 1,500 illegal immigrant predators 960,000 in the 88 months that it was conducted. (12)



The statistics were reported to have been ignored by the media. (13)





A report done by Family Security Matters estimates that an average of 2,158 homicides are committed by illegal aliens annually which accounts for more than 15% of murders reported to the FBI. --- The report says that the 267,000 incarcerated illegal immigrants are responsible for 1,300,000 crimes such as murder, drugs and rape. (14)




Out of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants, it is believed that 5.4% of them are fugitives. But apparently the U.S. government has lost track of 600,000 of them. --- This estimate was done by the Department of Homeland Security. (15)




Between October 2000 and September 2005, 98% of illegal immigrants that were arrested were not prosecuted. 5.2 million of them were taken to the Rio Grande and it is believed that they attempted to return to the United States. --- In 2005, less than 3% of the 1.17 million illegal aliens arrested that year were prosecuted. (16)





I want to conclude by saying that I realize that not all illegal immigrants are dangerous. However, I believe that this research shows a considerable crime rate in the illegal population. I also realize that many native born Americans and legal immigrants commit crimes as well. But I would also like to emphasize that the difference between crimes committed by legal immigrants/natural born Americans and illegal immigrants is that the illegals had no right to be in the country. If the U.S. government had done its duty and enforced the law then these crimes would never have happened. So I hold pour government responsible for every single murder, rape, theft etc., committed by illegal immigrants. Something has to be done, and soon.

Debunking an unreliable study on impacts of illegal immigration

In December 2006, the Texas Comptroller, Carole Strayhorn released a study on her estimates of how "undocumented immigrants" impacted the Texas economy.

She makes the absolutely unbelievable estimate that the 1.4 million "undocumented immigrants" in Texas contribute $17.7 billion to the state economy. She was very quick to mention that her report contradicted the other report done by the Federation for American Immigration Reform before. (1)



When I first found the report, I thought it would be an interesting read. But in the long run, I found it unconvincing. Even by reading her report, I couldn't see how she possibly could have come to the conclusion that illegal immigrants (or should I say "undocumented immigrants"?) could possibly contribute so much.

She spends some time criticizing FAIR's method of calculating the cost of illegal immigration. A lot of her critiques don't really hold water to me basically because none of them are at all evident in FAIR's report. Some of them are logical flaws.

As I read what she was saying, I found flaws in her analysis:

"In education, FAIR's report included the costs of legal children to undocumented parents. The inclusion of these children dramatically increased the costs reported. The comptroller's report focuses its attention on the costs directly attributed to undocumented persons." (2)

The flaw in her analysis is that it is actually perfectly legitimate to include the cost of native born children of illegal immigrants because (you could say) they are a product of the illegal immigrants themselves. Even though I understand where she's coming from, she ends up underestimating the cost of illegal immigration to the education system. The costs, in my opinion, should be counted even if they are indirect because they end up being the final result.

Economist, Edwin Rubestein says:

"Comptroller Strayhorn underestimates the cost of educating children of illegal immigrants by about $3.1 billion. This amount reflects her low-balling the costs of educating foreign-born students ($443 times 135,000) plus her much larger gaffe of ignoring the costs of educating U.S. born children of illegals ($7,528 times 395,000). Bottom line: After accounting for all K-12 expenses, the $420 million subsidy allegedly paid by illegal aliens to the state of Texas becomes a $2.7 billion subsidy from Texas taxpayers to the illegals." (3)

The Federation for American Immigration reform says that her "study's estimate of the illegal alien student population is artificially low, because it assumes that the illegal alien population has grown only at the rate of the state's overall population growth rather than at the much higher rate of estimated growth in the illegal alien population." (4)


Also she estimates that the 1.4 million illegal immigrants make up over 6% of the Texas population. The logical flaw in her document is that she says that "without the undocumented immigrant population, Texas' work force would decrease by 6.3%." (5)

What Strayhorn is saying would be logical assuming that nobody but illegals would take those jobs. But as I think I established very well on another blog, we don't need illegal labor.

I've made it very clear that I don't buy into the notion that illegal immigrants do jobs Americans will not do because of statistics I cite in the link above which indicate that illegals only make up a small minority of those workers. --- It may be true that a lot of Americans wouldn't take them. But apparently enough (or more than enough) do.


FAIR notes that Strayhorn's report fails to take into account the $5.2 billion that illegal workers send out of the U.S. (6)


Dan Stein, the President of FAIR had this to say:

"Even if this study proved correctly that illegal aliens represent a net gain for the state…and we know for certain they do not…Texas would be forced to conclude that it is becoming dangerously reliant on cheap, illegal foreign labor to sustain its economy. That absurd reality should be an outrage to legal workers in Texas whose wages and living standards are in decline. While we commend and encourage Texas, or any state, to examine illegal alien costs, after extensive examination of their study, we strongly discourage other states from using their flawed methodology as a basis for further studies." (7)



It was reported that Strayhorn, that as she was running for Texas governor in 2006, she had been accused of manipulating data to demonize her opponent. (8) If this accusation is true, then that makes her report all the more less credible.


And now the final word. Strayhorn claims that her report is the first time any state did an analysis of the impact of illegal immigration. (9)


This claim is not true.


Earlier the same year on February 21, before Strayhorn's report came out, the State Auditor of Mississippi released a report about the economic impact of illegal immigration to the his state. According to this state government report, illegal immigrants are reported to cause a financial dept to the state economy, taking more than they contribute. (10)


Also, another state report came out on December 8, 2005 about the negative fiscal impact of illegal immigration on Minnesota. It concluded that illegal immigrants cost the state between $148-188 million. (11)


Carole Strayhorn's report has been debunked, apparently on the irrelevant details as well as the relevant.

"The New York Times" is always ready and willing to serve as lead public relations staffers for the open-borders movement. On May Day, the day of mass illegal alien protests across the country, the paper saw fit to print a front-page sob story decrying rising illegal alien deportations.

"Immigration and customs enforcement officials, facing intense political pressure to toughen enforcement (read: do their jobs) removed 221,664 illegal immigrants from the country over the last year," the "Times" reported ominously. That's "an increase of more than 37,000 -- about 20 percent -- over the year before, according to the agency's tally."

That's a big number -- 221,664. It certainly sounds like we're getting serious about immigration enforcement, if you believe what the "Times" tells you.

Lax enforcement

But you know better than that. It's what the paper didn't tell you on the day of the pro-amnesty demonstrations that provides the truly alarming news. Far from a nation that takes its immigration laws seriously, we remain in a shoddy, dangerous state of immigration nonenforcement nearly six years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks -- chaos that will only worsen if Congress and the White House join hands on a "comprehensive" illegal alien amnesty plan.

In March, the Homeland Security Department's inspector general disclosed federal officials have lost track of 623,292 fugitive illegal aliens. These "absconders" were apprehended by immigration officers, placed in the immigration court system, ordered out of the country and released. Never to be seen again.

There were 221,664 "removed" illegal aliens vs. 623,292 released illegal alien fugitives.

In other words: There are nearly three times as many officially designated illegal alien fugitives freed by federal officials as there are illegal aliens who have been removed over the last year.

This inconvenient truth was glossed over by the "Times."

So was this: Despite more than $204 million earmarked since 2003 for 52 special fugitive operations teams across the country, the "backlog of fugitive alien cases has increased each fiscal year since the fugitive apprehension program was established in February 2002."

On the lam

While pro-amnesty marchers stressed Tuesday they are "law-abiding" (except for those pesky immigration rules), more and more of the illegal aliens caught by immigration authorities and ordered to appear for deportation hearings are skipping out. The Homeland Security inspector general's office explains that thousands of illegal aliens ignore orders to appear at their immigration hearings. Of the 460,000-plus immigration judge decisions and administrative closures issued by the Executive Office of Immigration and Review between 2001 and 2004, 39 percent (181,807) were issued to illegal aliens who had been released but later failed to appear at their respective immigration hearings.

And the total number of aliens failing to appear is increasing. In fact, according to Homeland Security's Detention and Removal Office, 85 percent of the illegal aliens released who have been issued final orders of removal will abscond. That goes not just for illegal aliens from Mexico, but for illegal aliens from terror-friendly and terror-sponsoring nations. Homeland security? What homeland security?

Compounding the danger: The federal Detention and Removal Office estimates that in 2007, "there will be 605,000 foreign-born individuals admitted to state correctional facilities and local jails during the year for committing crimes in the United States. Of this number, the federal government estimates half (302,500) will be removable aliens. Currently, most of these incarcerated aliens are being released into the United States at the conclusion of their respective sentences due to the lack of resources for the Detention and Removal Office. That's upward of 300,000 convicted criminal aliens who will walk out of their cells and onto the streets. Never to be seen again.

Just doing the context-setting and number-crunching the rest of the mainstream media won't do.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled, emotion-driven, one-sided coverage of America the Oppressor. Over to you, "New York Times."

Are these just the words of a few extremists? Consider that we could fill up many pages with such quotes. Also, consider that these are mainstream Mexican leaders.

THE U.S. VS MEXICO: On February 15, 1998, the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. players before and after the match. The coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, "This was
the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession."

Did you know that immigrants from Mexico and other non-European countries can come to this country and get preferences in jobs, education, and government contracts? It's called affirmative action or racial privilege. The Emperor of Japan or the President of Mexico could migrate here and immediately be eligible for special rights unavailable for Americans of European descent. Recently, a vote was taken in the U.S. Congress to end this practice. It was defeated. Every single Democratic senator except Ernest Hollings voted to maintain special privileges for Hispanic, Asian and African immigrants. They were joined by thirteen Republicans. Bill Clinton
and Al Gore have repeatedly stated that they believe that massive
immigration from countries like Mexico is good. They have also backed special privileges for these immigrants.

Corporate America has signed on to the idea that minorities and third world immigrants should get special, privileged status. Some examples are Exxon, Texaco, Merrill Lynch, Boeing, Paine Weber, Starbucks and many more.

DID YOU KNOW?: Did you know that Mexico regularly intercedes on the side of the defense in criminal cases involving Mexican nationals? Did you know that Mexico has NEVER extradited a Mexican national accused of murder in the U.S. in spite of agreements to do so? According to the L.A. Times, Orange
County, California is home to 275 gangs with 17,000 members;
98% of which are Mexican and Asian. How's your county doing?

According to a New York Times article dated May 19, 1994, 20 years after the great influx of legal immigrants from Southeast Asia, 30% are still on welfare compared to 8% of households nationwide. A Wall Street Journal editorial dated December 5, 1994 quotes law enforcement officials as stating that Asian mobsters are the "greatest criminal challenge the country faces."
Not bad for a group that is still under 5% of the population.

Is education important to you? Here are the words of a teacher who spent over 20 years in the Los Angeles School system. "Imagine teachers in classes containing 30-40 students of widely varying attention spans and motivation, many of whom aren't fluent in English. Educators seek learning materials likely to reach the majority of students and that means fewer words and math problems and more pictures and multicultural references."

WHEN I WAS YOUNG: When I was young, I remember hearing about the immigrants that came through Ellis Island. They wanted to learn English. They wanted to breath free. They wanted to become Americans. Now too many immigrants come here with demands. They demand to be taught in their own language.
They demand special privileges--affirmative action. They demand ethnic studies that glorify their culture.

Guest Worker Amnesty Legislation To Land On the Senate Floor Within Two Weeks!
Call Your Senators and Urge Them to Say NO!

Sources all over Capitol Hill are buzzing with information that guest worker amnesty legislation will be on Senate floor the week of May 14, 2007! The exact details of the bill -- negotiated entirely behind closed doors -- are known only to a few select staff members, but Senate staff has told FAIR that it will likely be a version of the White House plan or the Flake-Gutierrez bill.
