I think its bullshit that we cant share music with each other! How the fuck do greedy record companies think they are increasing sales by relying on one venue (radio) to promote their products?? By letting people share music via the internet the information crosses borders and oceans, places that radio stations could never reach! A song lasts in true selling value for only about a year, if that long - but the revenue generated by the song in t-shirts & clothing, dvds, concert attendances, gear, etc is huge and band support lasts far longer as fans connect and group.
These greedy producers dont know shit about sales or marketing and all I have to say is that if I had a choice between an international fan club or little county radio stations, I'd pick the international route!
And what about this aspect ~ how are people supposed to know what they like if they never get to hear it?? My friends send me music from all over the world, music that I would never get to hear if they didnt share, so when I write something and need a music score I have a better selection of music because of my friends, which also means more money for the record companies!!
Any way you look at it, they are cutting their own throats by limiting what people can do with a product AFTER they purchase it! I wont be buying CDs when the music Nazis are trying to stop me from sharing it with my friends on the net!
